James was born June 29, 1980, in Provo, the fifth of six children. Friends and neighbors in his home town of American Fork remember him as a mischievous boy with lots of energy and a sense of adventure.
James was a kind, good-natured man, always quick with a joke and a smile, and always willing to help out. He worked hard for his family as an entrepreneur who started his own long-distance trucking business, spending long hours and days on the road.
When he wasn’t working, James enjoyed riding motorcycles, four-wheeling, fishing, and being around friends and family.
James passed away due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Fort Lane Ward, 1401 No. Fort Lane, Layton. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the James L. Scarbrough Memorial Fund. Donations may be sent to, or dropped off at, any America First Credit Union branch.
James, we love you, and you will be missed dearly.
I already miss him so much.

Oh Dottie. So sorry to hear that. Was it sudden? How is you family doing?
Miss you even more now.
Yes, it was very sudden. We received the call that he had been killed in a motorcycle accident Thursday afternoon, and I have been in Utah since Sunday, Aug. 17th. I won't go home until Sept. 1st. Everyone is really struggling, especially my parents'.
Dottie, that is so tragic. I am so sorry. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know if we can help with anything--a place to get away, dinners, or driven somewhere please just ask. I'm at 994-6872 or my cell 403-6586
We love you!
Dottie, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother! He seemed like a really fun person to be around. I only met him a few times, (at weddings, and photoshoots!) but it was still a shock to see his orbituary. Hope you guys are ok, and if there's anything I can do for you guys, let me know.
What a nice tribute to Jimmy - It's still hard to believe it's true!
Hope you are doing better. Ive been thinking about you lots.
